Balloon Artworks is a family studio based in Ripley in Amber Valley, Derbyshire, set up by Certified Balloon Artist, Melanie Allen. We specialize in high-end, air-filled balloon art using only the best quality balloons sourced from our UK-based suppliers and most of our designs are one-off.
Our balloon art - imagination made real
If we can imagine it, we can make it! You've probably guessed from our work that we love balloons! Even more than that, we love finding new things to do and make with balloons. First and foremost, we're artists. For some artists, their media are paint and canvas; for us it's balloons.

Whilst we do work with foil and plastic balloons, we prefer to work with natural rubber or latex balloons, which give us enormous creative scope and freedom. Latex balloons are also completely biodegradable. And just so you know, we are committed to ensuring balloons are not released into the environment, even the biodegradable ones: we do not do balloon releases (and never have!) and you can read our policy on balloon releases here.

We use latex balloons from only the very best manufacturers, who ensure the latex used to produce their balloons is harvested sustainably. In fact, rubber trees when responsibly managed, can produce rubber for as long as 40 years.
Balloon decor for your event
We like to come up with designs that are a bit different and, hopefully, something you haven't seen before, but you will need to give us an idea of what your budget is for your balloon decor.

It all depends on the style of your event, and we like to talk to our customers to find out as much as possible about your plans and ideas so that we understand the impact you want to achieve, whether that's fun and quirky, or elegant and sophisticated.
Meet the Team
Melanie Allen set up Balloon Artworks in 2016 after getting hooked on balloon twisting quite by chance. Melanie creates all the designs and sculptures personally, with her husband, David, providing assistance with larger deliveries and events.

You may well see Melanie and David out-and-about in 'Vanity', our much-loved balloon van.

Melanie is a Certified Balloon Artist, having qualified via the internationally-recognised certification programme for balloon professionals.
​
Melanie also trains balloon enthusiasts around the world via her Balloon Artworks YouTube channel. In addition, Melanie has delivered training online for members of her professional body, BAPIA, and has been booked to deliver in-person training for balloon professionals by International Balloon Services in Belgium.
