Professional balloon artists - experts in high-end balloon art
Balloon Artworks is a family studio based in Ripley in Amber Valley, Derbyshire, set up by Certified Balloon Artist, Melanie Allen. Our work takes us all over Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. We specialize in high-end balloon art using only the best quality balloons sourced from our UK-based suppliers and most of our designs are one-off.
Our balloon art - imagination made real
If we can imagine it, we can make it! You've probably guessed from our work that we love balloons. Even more than that, we love finding new things to do and make with balloons. First and foremost, we're artists. For some artists, their media are paint and canvas; for us, as balloon artists, our media are balloons, in all their forms.

Whilst we do work with foil and plastic balloons, we prefer to work with natural rubber or latex balloons, which give us enormous creative scope and freedom. Latex balloons are also completely biodegradable. And just so you know, we are committed to ensuring balloons are not released into the environment, even the biodegradable ones: we do not do balloon releases and you can read our policy on balloon releases here.

We use latex balloons from only the very best manufacturers, who ensure the latex used to produce their balloons is harvested sustainably. In fact, rubber trees when responsibly managed, can produce rubber for as long as 40 years.
Balloon decor for your event
We like to come up with designs that are a bit different and, hopefully, something you haven't seen before, but you will need to give us an idea of what your budget is for your balloon decor.

It all depends on the style of your event, and we like to talk to our customers to find out as much as possible about your plans and ideas so that we understand the impact you want to achieve, whether that's fun and quirky, or elegant and sophisticated.
Bespoke balloon styling
We offer a bespoke service, so if there's a design you've found on Pinterest that you like the look of, we are happy to advise how a similar look could be achieved for your event within your budget. We won't copy another artist's work, but we can take inspiration from it.
We are very creative people, so we love to get calls from customers asking us to make something unusual that we might not have made before!
Our clients
We work with a wide variety of clients, from individuals and families organizing birthday parties, to couples planning their wedding, and large corporate clients requiring our balloon decorating service for an event or product launch. We also build specially commissioned props and sculptures for events and photo shoots.

Meet the Team
Melanie Allen set up Balloon Artworks in 2016 after getting hooked on balloon twisting quite by chance. Melanie creates all the designs and sculptures personally, with her husband, David, providing assistance with larger deliveries and events.
​
You may well see Melanie and David out-and-about in 'Vanity', our much-loved, Tardis-like, trusty balloon van.
​
Melanie is a Certified Balloon Artist (one of only 2,000 CBAs worldwide), having qualified via the only internationally-recognised certification programme for balloon professionals.
​
Melanie also trains other balloon artists around the world via her premium video tutorials plus her weekly free tutorials on her Balloon Artworks YouTube channel. In addition, Melanie has delivered live training webinars for members of her professional body, BAPIA.
